Personalized Screenings for Better Health: Moving Beyond One-Size-Fits-All Medicine
As a board-certified internist focused on longevity, I believe the best medicine doesn’t just treat disease it helps prevent it. At Ace Longevity, we shift away from a reactive model and toward one that is proactive, precise, and personalized. One of the most effective tools we use is advanced preventive screening.
Why Screening Matters
Regular health screenings can catch diseases early—often before symptoms appear. Early detection not only saves lives, it also gives us a greater ability to influence long-term outcomes. But effective prevention doesn’t stop at checking boxes on a guideline chart. It must be tailored to you.
Every individual has a unique risk profile based on family history, lifestyle, genetics, and environmental exposures. That’s why we personalize screening timelines and tools for each patient we see.
Standard Screening Tests and When to Start
Mammogram
Begin around age 40. Start earlier if there is a family history of breast cancer or known genetic risk.
PAP Smear and HPV Testing
Begin PAP smears at age 21. Add HPV testing depending on individual risk factors such as sexual history, immune status, and prior test results.
Colonoscopy
Start at age 45 for most. Begin earlier if there is a family history or other risk factors. Non-invasive stool tests may be an option for some.
PSA Test
This screening for prostate cancer is often recommended around age 50, or age 40 for those at higher risk. However, PSA testing is considered controversial due to the potential for overdiagnosis. It is important to have an individualized discussion with your doctor to weigh the risks and benefits based on your personal health history.
Why Personalization Matters
These guidelines are useful starting points, but they are not rules. Your body, your history, and your risk factors should guide your care.
At Ace Longevity, we tailor screening plans based on:
- Family history of cancer, heart disease, or autoimmune conditions
- Lifestyle factors like smoking, alcohol use, or toxin exposure
- Ethnicity, gender, and unique genetic risks
Advanced Tools for Deeper Insight
Advanced Body Composition Analysis
Gives a detailed view of muscle, fat (visceral and subcutaneous), and bone distribution. More accurate than BMI, and helpful for fitness and disease prevention.
Multi-Cancer Detection Tests (Liquid Biopsy)
A cutting-edge blood test that can screen for dozens of cancers before symptoms arise. Ideal for individuals at higher risk or those looking for a more aggressive prevention approach.
Coronary Calcium Scoring
A quick CT scan that measures calcium buildup in the arteries. A high score may predict heart disease, even if cholesterol appears normal.
CT Angiography with Cleerly AI
This advanced imaging test provides a detailed view of the coronary arteries and helps identify vulnerable plaque before symptoms arise. It can help personalize the need for preventive therapies like statins and supports more targeted cardiovascular care.
Whole-Body MRI
A non-invasive scan offering a comprehensive view of internal health. While it can detect issues in organs, joints, and soft tissues, it is not appropriate for everyone. Whole-body MRIs are considered controversial and should be discussed with your physician to determine whether they are the right tool based on your personal risk and goals.
The Ace Longevity Approach
We believe that screenings are not just a checklist, they’re an opportunity to change the course of your life. Whether we’re detecting early signs of disease or giving you the reassurance that you’re on the right path, our goal is always the same: clarity, confidence, and proactive care.
If you’re ready to go beyond basic care and explore what precision prevention can look like for you, we’re here to guide you. Let’s create a screening plan that reflects your goals, your risks, and your future.
